The Rules and Regulations for Extra Credit:
- You can watch the film (or both films) for the designated quarter. To receive credit, you must follow all directions as explained on the attached worksheets.
- You can also attend any plays (including musicals) at Strake Jesuit or Saint Agnes. Simply bring your stamped ticket stub or program to my office. I do not accept extra credit for attending plays at other schools or community theaters. Tune into SJET or look at the school calendar for information on upcoming plays at SJ and SAA. (Concerts, sporting events, and special lectures do not qualify as extra credit opportunities, unless I say otherwise.)
- You can turn in as much extra credit per quarter as you want, but I will not add more than 3 points to your quarter average. I see extra credit as the opportunity to raise your grade from a C+ to a B-.
- Plays will generally add about 0.5 points to a quarter average and films will add between 1 and 1.5 points to a quarter average. To receive maximum points, take advantage of the quarter's maximum number of extra credit opportunities.
- During the third quarter, you can also participate in Romanticism Day.
Quarter 1: Becket: This star-studded award winner adapted from the play by Jean Anouilh is a story of personal friendship and betrayal, as well as the struggle between church and state.

Quarter 3: Sense and Sensibility: This film adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, directed beautifully by Ang Lee, brings us into the relatively safe world of the English landed gentry, shortly after the turn of the century. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet star as two very different sisters, who, nevertheless, share the same quest for love and happiness in a world in which such things are beginning to seem a luxury.
